Economy
Ireland is made up of a mixed economy mostly market with hints of traditional and command. This economy was on rapid growth until the financial hit of 2008 that sent Ireland into a recession. In 2010, the European Union gave Ireland 112 billion dollars in effort to help them out of the recession. Agriculture was once their main source of income until they modernized. Agriculture still plays a part in the economy with key crops such as potatoes, sugat beets, turnips, barley, and wheat. It is now focused on services and retail. Main industries include textiles, machinery, and chemicals.
Another industry that is important in their economy is trade and tourism. Ireland's beautiful foothills and rustic towns attract tourists from all over the world. SInce they reside in Europe, they have a very good trading system with other EU countries. In the cities, buses are the most popular type of transportation. Taxis are not supported by the government so their are very little. School is heavily important and most are funded by the state and the Roman Catholic Church.
